This evening, a seasoned set of artists bring to the fore, yet another rendition of Sri Krishna Rayabaram, lent from the poetic compositions of the twin Telugu poets Tirupati Shastry and Venkateshwara Shastry.
In this performative piece, both Arjuna and Duryodhana visit Lord Krishna, each wooing the Lord over to his side of the battlefield. Arjuna makes a crucial choice and picks Krishna for himself, leaving a mammoth army for Duryodhana.
Sri Krishna Rayabaram is a popular bit from the Mahabharata, doled out effortlessly, even by young schoolchildren. Music and singing form the narrative voice of this mythological act.
Telugu poet C Narayana Reddy will preside over the ceremonies as chief guest. Mr. Ramanachari, Director of Department of Culture is another prestigious member of today evening's guest panel.
The play is being performed in Thyagaraja Gana Sabha, and will commence at 6 pm. Please contact 2331-6908 for further details.
