The baser nature of man is sometimes too ugly to be made into a movie. Here's an attempt, nevertheless, if this is your kind of cinema.
Creaking Projectors, in association with Seagrams 100 Pipers, is presenting 'You Talking To Me', a series of films screenings of Robert De Niro, from 22nd August to 12th September, at Syn, Taj Deccan.
As part of this series, the Hollywood masterpiece Sleepers will be screened on 29th August.
Sleepers is a 1996 American legal drama film written, produced, and directed by Barry Levinson, and based on Lorenzo Carcaterra's 1995 novel of the same name.
After a prank gone wrong results in a near-fatal accident, the 4 boys responsible (played by Brad Renfro, Joseph Perrino, Geoffrey Wigdor, and Jonathan Tucker) are sent to a juvenile detention center, where they are physically and sexually abused by 4 of the guards, led by Sean Nokes (played by Kevin Bacon).
Years later, 2 of the boys (played by Ron Eldard and Billy Crudup) come across Nokes in a restaurant, and exact revenge by murdering him. The other 2 (played by Jason Patric and Brad Pitt) enlist the help of their childhood friend (Minnie Driver) and a priest (Robert De Niro), and an alcoholic lawyer (Dustin Hoffman), to acquit their friends and expose the actions of the guards and the abuses at the center.
