A husband and wife filing for divorce after 5 years of what has been a bad marriage. Looking for humour in a situation like that is exactly what, umm, God would do.
Udaan is presenting a Marathi comedy play "Shri Tashi Sau", on 15th January, at the Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology, Narayanguda. Written by Yogesh Soman and directed by Saurabh Gharipurikar, the cast includes Sunil Chandurkar and Prajakta Phansalkar.
"Shri" means husband, "Sau" means wife, and "Shri Tashi Sau" means "Husband Vs Wife" in Marathi. In the play, the husband and the wife are frustrated with each other after 5 years of what has been an irritating marriage, and finally decide to file for divorce.
They meet at the Family Court for the divorce, and while waiting for the proceedings to start, they argue over their past instances, leaving no scope of bridging the gap between them.
Udaan, an organisation dedicated to theatre, was founded by Saurabh Gharipurikar in Hyderabad on 12th December 2001. It has 2 wings - Udaan Performing Arts and Udaan Education.
Udaan regularly organises various workshops for those interested in theatre. It has presented 4 workshop-oriented productions so far - April Fool, Freestyle Gawahi, Nithalle, and Waat Pahato Premachi. Its recent production was a result of the children's theatre workshop production, Handle With Care.
