After the success of the Idols in Concert in Hyderabad, featuring Sreeram Chandra, Bhoomi Trivedi and Swaroop Khan on 25th September, RNH Events is now presenting a unique rhythmic experience - Saptaakshara - on 9th October, at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam.
Sapthaakshara draws its name from the number '7', and the concert will feature 7 south-Indian classical percussionists performing together.
In the forefront of this group is Grammy Award winner Padmasri Vikku Vinayakram, a ghatam celebrity. Other performers include N Ramkrishnan on the mridangam, V Selvaganesh on the kanjira, V Umashankar on the ghatam & perscussions, V Mahesh Vinayakram on the vocals & percussions, A Ganesan on the morsing (Jew's harp) and Rajaraman on the gethu (Asian percussion).
Thetakudi Harihara Vinayakram, also known as Vikku Vinayakram, is a Grammy award winning Indian percussionist who plays Carnatic music with the ghatam. He was conferred the Hafiz Ali Khan Award for "Unmatched Contribution To The Field Of Music" in the year 2000. He is also the 1st south-Indian musician to be awarded the Grammy for Best World Music Album for his participation in Mickey Hart's Planet Drum, in which he played the ghatam and the morsing. The Indian Government honoured him with the Padma Sri.
