As part of its Celebrating Theatre series, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation is presenting a Hindi play Sandhya Chaya, on 24th January, at the Taramati Baradari Indoor Auditorium.
Sandhya Chhaya is a play written by the Marathi playwright Jaywant Dalvi and directed by Nadira Babbar. The plays deals with an old couple Nana and Nani, who, inspite of having being deprived of love from their children, still have the courage to fight the melancholy and pathos of their lives. It sends a message that in the modern concept of family life, the bonds of relations with each other are getting weaker and weaker. Family members are drifting away from each other for materialistic and financial gains.
Nadira Babbar as Nani and Shaikh Sami Usman as Nana play the central roles, while Hanif Patni, Prakash Soni, Nameeta Prakash, Aslam Parvaiz, Darpan Mishra, Shubhrajyoti and Ravi Rai play the other roles.
The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation was founded by Mohammed Ali Baig in memory of his father Qadir Ali Baig, who was a doyen of Hindustani theater. It was established in an attempt at revival of theatre. The foundation has on board danseuse Vani Ganapathy, artistes Rohini Hattangadi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Urmila Matondkar, lyricist Javed Akhtar and director M S Sathyu.
