As part of Samahaara's Hyderabad Annual Theatre Festival, St. Francis Degree College For Women is presenting an English play, Michael Frayn's "Noises Off" on 14th December at 7:30pm, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The play is directed by Maryam Sultana.
Michael Frayn's "Noises Off!" comprises 14 diverse characters, played by 9 actors, and involves a bunch of emotions, eccentricities and whims, and much confusion.
Noises Off! is a play about a play. In the story, an ambitious director works on a play called "Nothing's On", with a troupe of actors and crew members interwoven in a complex web of human relationships.
The 12-week traveling exhibition of Noises Off starts off with a performance that is barely patched together, and that sours soon after take-off with a lovers' tiff threatening to tear them all apart. The director returns to Nothing's On to find it threadbare, with a disastrous performance forming the cherry atop the shoddy cake.
The characters are found miming, screaming, shouting, whispering, covering up, prompting and creating chaos in general.
