Dr. Madhuri Smitha was initiated into music at an early age of ten and has been practicing Carnatic vocal for almost two decades. She had the fortune of learning Carnatic vocal from illustrious gurus like (Late) Shri Neti Srirama Sarma and (Late) Mahamahopadhyay Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana. Madhuri is continuing her music training presently under able mentorship of Shri Raghava Chary of the renowned duo the Hyderabad Brothers.
Madhuri is a Diploma holder in Carnatic Music and has participated in several music competitions conducted by renowned cultural organizations of the twin-cities. She bagged top prizes in Carnatic vocal competitions conducted by Sarada Cultural Trust, Secunderabad, Navya Nataka Samithi, Hyderabad and devotional music competition conducted by Sri Satya Sai Trust, Hyderabad. She has given a number of performances at the Yuva Vaani Programme conducted by the All India Radio (AIR).
