Yes, it's the rudra-veena, and Ustad Bahauddin Dagar will be presenting a rudra-veena concert on 5th March at the Saptaparini.
Ustad Bahauddin Dagar is the son and disciple of the illustrious rudra-veena maestro, the late Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. He represents the 20th generation of the Dagar parampara of the Dagarbani School of Dhrupad music. After the sudden demise of his father, he continued his training from his uncle Ustad Zia Fareeduddin Dagar.
Dagar is an A-grade artist at All India Radio, Mumbai. He has given many performances in India and abroad, some of them being The Tansen Samaroahs, Gwalior; the Shankarlal Festival, New Delhi; The Doverlane Festival, Calcutta; Dhrupad Samaroahs in Mumbai and Delhi; The Sangeet Natak Acadamy Fest, Delhi; Saptak, Ahmedabad; Kalidas Samaroah, Ujjain; Zeitfluss Fest, Austria; Festival Du Fes, Morocco; Mozart Bicentenary Celebration, Austria; and for SPIC-MACAY in India, USA, Canada and London.
Dagar was presented the prestigious Sanskriti Award, instituted by the Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi, in 2006, the Yuvak Sadhak Award by the Sangeetendu Lal Mani Mishra Foundation, Bhopal, in 2007 and the The Raza Award 2007 by the Raza Foundation, New Delhi. Currently, he teaches at the Dhrupad Gurukul along with his uncle in Mumbai.
