Here's a celebration of the Bengali bard who's left behind a legacy too vast to celebrate in a single day.
Kalakriti Art Gallery and Moving Images, in association with Dr. Reddy's Labs, Reliance Communications, Taj Banjara and AP Tourism, is organising Rabindra Darshan, the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Rabindranath Tagore. The celebrations are on from 11th to 18th November, at the Kalakriti Art Gallery, Taj Banjara, Ravindra Bharathi and Prasad's Multiplex. The festival is being inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Anji Reddy, Founder-Chairman of Dr. Reddy's Labs. The guest of honour is Padmasri Jagdish Mittal, a senior artist.
The festival schedule is as below:
11th November
6:15pm - Lecture on Visuality Of Tagore, by Shanu Lahiri, at the Kalakriti Art Galery
11th to 18th November
11:00am to 7:00pm - Rachana: The Art Of The Tagores - Exhibition of Paintings by Rabindranath, Abanindranath and Gaganendranath Tagore, at the Kalakriti Art Galery
13th November
11:00am - Lecture on 'Seeking The Real Gitanjali', by Dr. William Radice, at the Taj Banjara
3:00pm - Lecture on 'The Radical Tagore', by Partha Ghosh, at the Taj Banjara
15th November
7:00pm - Walking To The Sun - English/Hindi play based on Tagore's Dak Ghar, by Arpana, at Ravindra Bharathi
16th November
6:30pm - Satyajit Ray's Bengali film Ghare Baire, with English sub-titles, at the Prasad's Multiplex
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) is among the most revered writers in the world. He churned out poems, plays, songs, novels and short stories, and was the first Indian to win the Nobel prize, in 1913.
The entry to all the events, except the play and the film, are free for everyone. Entry to the English/Hindi play and the Bengali film is by free entry passes, available at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Landmark Book Stores, Taj Banjara and The Secunderabad Club.
