Sri Rama Gana Sabha is organising the 42nd Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival from 20th to 31st January at New Nallakunta Ramalayam.
D V Mohana Krishna will be presenting a Carnatic vocal recital on 25th January, and he will be accompanied by B S Narayana on the violin and P Jaya Bhaskar on the mridangam.
Mohana Krishna is a a blind vocalist, and a disciple of Dr. Mangalampally Bala Muralikrishna. He has done his diploma in music from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He has composed around 6 audio CDs of Annamachara Keerthanas. He has travelled extensively in India and abroad giving several performances.
He has been conferred upon various awards like Gaana Sudhanidhi and Lalitha Sangeeta Visaradha. He is now into teaching music at his own institute, Raaga Vardhani, established in Nallakunta about 5 years back.
Mohana Krishna is a staff artist at the All India Radio, Hyderabad. He has gained mastery over all the 72 Melakartas (scales) and 35 Talas (rhythms), both in Carnatic and light classical music, apart from proficiency in rendering the compositions of the legendary music trinity, Shyama Sastry, Thyagaraja and Muthuswamy Dikshitar. He also excels in singing his guru's compositions.
Sri Rama Gana Sabha is one of the oldest cultural associations in the twin cities. It was established in 1949 by Carnatic singer Koniki Satyanarayana Rao. The association organises Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival every year.
