Access Livelihoods Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. is organising Tathya-II, a Short And Documentary Film Festival, on 27th & 28th November, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. Some of these documentaries were featured at "Jeevika: Asia Livelihood Documentary Festival" organised by the Centre For Civil Society in Delhi.
Punni Ki Kahaniyan, a documentary by Alind Jaitley, will be screened on the first day, at 3:35pm. With India rubbing shoulders with global giants and donning the role of a pathfinder in world affairs, it's the children who need to be enlightened about the cultural heritage of the country, and respecting individual identities in a mind-boggling diversity. A short film throwing light on these issues in a format that children can appreciate is a small, but, nevertheless, significant step towards this enlightenment.
"Punni Ki Kahaniyan", produced by Aide Et Action, was made to promote cultural harmony among children. The 18-minute film is aimed at audiences in the age group of 8-15 years, and depicts various issues that touch children's lives, such as bullying/ragging in school, class and culture divide, religious distinctions, and individuality versus a herd mentality.
All the issues are highlighted in the larger backdrop of the need for multiculturalism and respect for India's heritage of diversity. "Punni" is an animated character that acts as both a narrator and an observer.
The film has children from various states of India, reflecting our rich diversity in language, food, culture and mannerisms. It is targeted at school-going urban and rural children. It has been screened at various schools across India.
