Mahadevam Mahasenam Bhaje - Bharatanatyam Dance Ballet By Anitha Guha

Grace multiplied 50 times is how the story of Lord Shiva and Muruga is being told - here's Anitha Guha's Bharatanatyam battalion taking on Keyes by storm.



Kalasagaram's 43rd Annual Festival Of Music, Dance & Drama is on at Keyes High School, from 27th November to 5th December.



As part of the festival, Anitha Guha and her group of disciples from Chennai will be performing a Bharatanatyam ballet Mahadevam Mahasenam Bhaje, on the second day. The ballet narrates the exploits of Lord Shiva and Muruga. Anitha Guha has conceptualised and choreographed the production, and the lyrics and music for the ballet have been composed by P R Vekatasubramanian. Over 50 young dancers will perform the ballet.



Acharya Choodamani Anitha Guha is a popular Bharatanatyam teacher from Chennai, and is a disciple of Guru Govindarajan Pillai. She initially learned from her mother Karthiyayini Natesan. She has given various performances in India and abroad, and is now devoted to choreographing and presenting her own dance ballets.



Anitha founded Bharathanjali in 1989, in Chennai, where she teaches Bharatanatyam to youngsters. Many of her students have blossomed into solo dance performers, and have been performing regularly in the December Season in Chennai in the past few years, winning awards, titles and scholarships.



Some of her recent works include Chitrangadha, Koodiyirundhu Kulirndhelore Empaavai, Natrunaiyavadhu Namachivayave, Ramyam Hitham Natyam, Sadha Venkatesam Smarami Smarami, Mahadevam Mahasenam Bhaje, Thathasthu and Swagatham Krishna. These performances have been presented in many parts of the country, and at premiere dance festivals.



Kalasagaram is a south-Indian cultural association situated in the East Nehru Nagar of East Marredpally, and has been organising Carnatic music concerts for more than 40 years now. The concerts are usually held in the Keyes High School campus, in the open-air theater. The singers are generally from outside Hyderabad, usually amateurs and upcoming artistes. Kalasagaram also occasionally stages south-Indian classical dances and Tamil plays.



The entry to this cultural festival is by daily donor passes of Rs. 100, Rs. 50 & Rs. 25 per head. Season passes are also available for Rs. 400, Rs. 300 & Rs. 200 per head.
