Chatla Sreeramulu Theatre Trust, in collaboration with Rasaranjani, Hyderabad, is presenting the Pratibha Puraskar of 2013 to Prof. Bhaskar Shewalkar. A Hindi play, "Taj Mahal Ka Tender", will also be staged on the occasion.
About Prof. Bhaskar Shewalkar: A former HOD of the Theatre Arts at the University of Hyderabad, Prof. Bhaskar Shewalkar has so far directed over 100 plays in Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, English and Telugu, in his theatre career spanning over 45 years. He has conducted a number of workshops, and participated in seminars by Sangeet Natak Academy (New Delhi), Central South Zone cultural Centre (Nagpur), National School of Drama and Max Mueller Bhavan.
He was invited as jury member for several drama competitions, and has dedicated himself to practical theatre and training of actors after retiring from the University. He is a guiding force behind "Sutradhar", a leading theatre group. He is also a founder member of "Rangadhara Theatre Stream", and has been associated with it since 1971. "Main Rahi Masoom", directed by Prof. Shewalkar, was performed at the Bharat Ranga Mahostav 2010 conducted by NSD Delhi, and his new play "Diploma In Bhrashtachar" has seen 10 performances in March-April 2013.
About "Taj Mahal Ka Tender": This is a Hindi play written by Ajay Shukla and directed by Mohd Shafi, under the supervision of Prof. Bhaskar Shewalkar.
