One of the most popular rock bands of India, Parikrama, will be performing live at Hard Rock Cafe, on the 25th of February. The performance is part of the weekly Thursday gig at the pub.
Parikrama is a rock-and-roll band formed in 1991, and has more than 230 concerts and 1,000 performances to its name, held all over India in more than 40 cities. It has also participated in various international competitions held in India and abroad.
The band often fuses Indian classical music instruments like the mridangam, tabla and flute, with conventional instruments like the guitar, drums and keyboards. Parikrama has been inspired and influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers and The Doors.
The members of this big band are Nitin Malik on the lead vocals, Sonam Sherpa on the lead guitars, Saurabh Choudhary on the guitar, Subir Malik on the keyboards and synthesizers, Chintan Kalra on the bass guitar and with backing vocals, Dilip Gururaj Ramchandran on the drums, Shambu Nath on the tabla, mridangam and percussions, Imran Khan on the violin and Rajat Kakkar on the percussion. Occasionally, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan also performs with the band.
