Songs, dance, theatre, poetry - this one is visual, auditory and intellectual, and star-studded 4D at its best.
As part of the annual Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival from 29th October to 10th November, the 7th day of the festival will feature "Pankhdiyaan", a blend of 3 performing art forms - theatre, dance and music - at the Park Hyderabad Hotel.
The cast includes Kabir Bedi, Anupam Kher, Mohammed Ali Baig, Juhi Babbar, Rahul Sharma, and Vani Ganapathy. This theatrical production has been conceived, written and directed by Mohammed Ali Baig, and the sets and lights have been designed by M S Sathyu.
Pankhdiyaan is a poetry-theatre-dance production. It involves 3 actors - Anupam Kher, Mohammed Ali Baig and Juhi Babbar - reading on stage poetry composed by 3 eminent Indian poets - Maqdoom Mohiuddin, Ali Sardar Jaffri and Sarojini Naidu. Then, there's also a classical-fusion dancer Vani Ganapathy performing Bharatanatyam to the poetry; and Rahul Sharma playing the santoor. Simultaneously, Zila Khan (daughter of legendary vocalist Ustad Vilayat Ali Khan) will be performing Hindustani vocal.
The festival is a tribute to the Hindustani theatre personality, the late Qadir Ali Baig. It forms a part of the Foundation's initiative to revive theatre in town, and was designed by Mohammad Ali Baig, son of Qadir Ali Baig.
