The original Ghantasala is back. Well, almost. The 84th birth anniversary celebrations of NTR are turning out to be a boon for various people, and tonite, it's the turn of Ghantasala fans.
Rasanjali is organising a musical nite of NTR hits by T Sarath Chandra and group on 27th May, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. The musical nite is being organised as part of the 84th birth anniversary celebrations of Late Dr N T Rama Rao. On this occasion, Rasanjali will screen some golden masterpieces of the legend's acting moments from some of his evergreen movies like Patalabhairavi, Missamma, Gundamma Katha, Mayabazaar, K D No. 1, Driver Ramudu and Veerabrahmamgari Charitra.
T Sarath Chandra is a Ghantasala scholar, who has written an entire body of literature, 22 books in all, about Ghantasala. In his career of more than 15 years, he has sung the songs of practically every playback singer in Tollywood, but Ghantasala has been his personal favorite, to whom he has dedicated his concerts, and whose voice he imitates to perfection. It has won him many fans in the country and the world, and titles like Gyana Gandharva, Swara Hamsa, Gana Srestha and Gana Kalaprapurna, gold medals, and awards like the Ghantasala Lalitha Sangeetha Vaggeyakara Award and the Adi Narayana Rao Award.
Rasanjali was started a year ago, on 8th June 2006, by Y Mallikarjunam, a theater artiste. It is cultural organisation started with the intention of promoting the culture of the state. Towards this aim, Mallikarjunam organises various programs during the year, including dramas, plays, musical nites, classical music and dance. Rasanjali also felicitates artistes with gold medals, swarna kankanams and momentos.
