Udaan is showcasing the havoc caused in the life of the common man by the present state of the country, as well as the mayhem caused by politicians, through a political satire titled Nithalle (Hindi). The play is directed by Surabh Gharipurikar of Udaan Arts and Education Academy, and is being staged at La Makaan, Banjara Hills.
Nithalle is a 75-minute one-act political satire, originally written by Dr. Rekha Saxena in 1970 and adapted (as per current political circumstances) by Rupesh Kalantri. The play is a representation of the common man in India. It presents the woes of a helpless Indian in the current political situation, by addressing issues that include unemployment and western influence on the present generation. The play concludes with an unanswered question - do we really believe Saare Jaahan Se Accha Hindustaan Humaara?
Rupesh Kalantri (as Nithalla) and Tanvi Deshpande (as Nithalli) are playing the key roles. Rupesh is a theatre artist and has been with ETV news, in the editing and programming field, for the past 5 years. This is his 3rd play as an actor. Tanvi, who's making her debut in theatre with Nithalle, is an engineering graduate.
Saurabh Gharipurikar, the director of the play, is the founder of Udaan Arts & Education Academy. This is the 6th directorial venture of Saurabh, and the 3rd production of Udaan. Saurabh earlier directed Nirop (Marathi), April Fool (Hindi) and Free Style Gawahi (Hindi), and has also acted in 10 plays.
Entry tickets are priced at Rs. 50. Please contact Sunil Chandurkar at 99080-37444 for further details.
