Dubai-based underground band Nervecell, is promoting its new album 'Preaching Venom', and as part of this, it is on an India tour. On 26th September, the band will be at Excess.
Based in the Commercial City of Dubai (UAE), the band emerged early in the year 2000, consisting of founder members Barney Ribeiro (guitars), Hatem (drums) and Brogan Costa (vocals). As one of the first hardcore bands in the city, Nervecell made their debut performance at the Battle of the Bands 2001 in the city's capital Abu Dhabi, with the addition of Mazen (guitar) and Carol (bass). Here, the band won themselves the 'Best Performance' award, and Barney picked up the 'Best Guitarist' award.
However, when Brogan and Carol left Nervecell to study abroad and Mazen left the band to pursue other projects, vocalist/bassist Rajeh Khazaal Aka James joined Nervecell in 2002 and Rami Mustafa in 2003 as a full-time lead guitarist. After Hatem left the country for personal reasons, the band had to depend on the part-time services of Mark Deeb (ex?Threshold of Pain) and Alan Madhavan, current drummer of Nephelium. In March 2006, London-based drummer Gavin Ward (ex-Power Quest, Last Hours of Torment, Exit Wound and Caution) joined the band.
In 2003, Nervecell released a 2-track demo entitled 'Vastlands Of Abomination', which acquired the band a dedicated following from the underground circles. In the summer of 2004, the band recorded their debut EP 'Human Chaos', that included 5 songs with re-recorded versions of the first demo, and 3 other tracks that are considered Nervecell's old school classics. Currently, their new album 'Preaching Venom' is on stands, and the band is busy promoting it.
