Filmmaker R V Ramani, and theatre director and actor Kalairaani will come down from Delhi and Chennai to participate in the annual Hyderabad Literature Festival on January 29, to screen their documentary Nee Yaar (Who Are You?).
Ramani is one of the leading documentary filmmakers in India, and is widely respected. He is known for his unique style of making independent impressionistic documentaries that have been highly recognized in India and abroad.
The biopic traces the life of Sundara Ramaswamy, who is considered as one of the foremost Tamil modernist writers. Having been brought up with the backdrop of Malayalam language and culture, SuRa learnt Tamil by himself, and later emerged as writer in the language. His life and works often go against his upbringing as a person from a Brahmin household, because his writings often champion the dalit struggle in Tamil Nadu.
