Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti is organising ?National Silk Expo? at Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam, Srinagar Colony till August 24.
Several silk products from different States like Moonga silk (Assam), printed silk saris from Delhi, Kantha and Patola from Gujarat, Balucheri of West Bengal, Bandhej from Rajasthan, Kosa silk of Jharkhand and Chintamani, Kasauti work from Karnataka would be on offer at the expo.
This apart, exotic collection of saris such as Uppada, Mangalgiri, Garhwal, Dharmawaram and Pochampally from Andhra Pradesh; Tussar, Matkaa and Khadi silk from Bihar, embroidered Pashmina shawls, printed silk saris, dress material from Jammu & Kashmir, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk saris from Madhya Pradesh, Bomkai block print from Orissa and Kantha, tribal work from Chhattisgarh would also be displayed.
The Gramin Hastkala Vkas Samiti founded by a group of artisans, designers, shoal activists, academics and environmentalists, attempts to promote exquisite traditional skill and creations of the wears and encouraging them to be contemporary and economically relevant. More than 100 designers and winners from all over the India are part of this year's yhibition which includes gorgeous Uppa CLOS, Banaras silks, Gadwag, Dharrnavaram, Jarndanis, herons/ars and Sandralpurito From saris, dress ritateria/s, items of home decor to a plethora of designer clothes, from each region of the country, the exhibition orovIded shoppers with a lodeidoscope of Ondiar's CO1010, ditersity and talent Artisans from 14 handloom weaving States including Rajasthan, Ilodbra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Mackwa Pradesh, Gujarat , Jammu and kashmir, West Bengal and awry designers from metros working in collaboration with the weavers are displaying their work here.
