100 songs of Ghantasala, non-stop for 12 hours, need no cheerleaders. Still, a bit of Tollywood never hurts any event. And there's a fair bit of Tollywood here.
Suswara Academy of Fine Arts, together with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is organising a 12-hour non-stop marathon musical nite of Ghantasala songs, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, this Sunday. The program starts with the lighting of lamp (Jyoti Prajvalana) by classical dancer Swati Somnath, at 8:00am, and will continue till 8:00pm.
100 songs of Ghantasala will be sung by amateur singers Mangalampally Swarna, Mangalampally Hari, Venkat Rao, K Radha, Jaishree, Subash, Pulla Rao, Pranav Seshasai, Chintalapati Murthy and Seshubabu, among others. The music will be rendered by Srikanth and Raju on the keyboards, Ramu and Pandurangam on the tabla, Prasad on the rhythm pads, and Srinivas on the guitar.
The chief guest for the program is actor Tanikella Bharani, and other guests expected to visit the venue during the recital are President of the Women's Wing of the Telugu Desam Party Nannapaneni Rajkumari, the 1st female Telugu movie playback singer Rao Balasaraswati Devi, movie actor Babu Mohan, Assistant Tax Officer Sadanandam, and General Manager of Syndicate Bank A Vasudevan.
Suswara Academy of Fine Arts was started in 2005 by Mangalampally Swarna. Swarna is a classical and light music artiste, who learnt Carnatic vocal from the late Susarla Sivaram. She was considered a child prodigy, starting her music lessons at an age of only 5. She is a B-grade artiste of AIR. Due to her fondness for music, she established Suswara Academy of Fine Arts, where she organises musical nites regularly with amateur artistes.
