Hyderabad Western Music Foundation is offering a 2-month (8 Saturdays) course on "Music-Theory-& Ear-Training".
In this course you will learn:
Pitch Identification: With the aid of visualizations and audible cues, student will gain skills such as pitch matching, finding the "key?, and understanding the relationship between pitches.
Harmonic analysis: Melodies and chord progressions will be demystified through the study of tonal harmony.
Sight Singing: Discuss the ways in which pitches usually behave, and explore melodic sequencing and basic conducting. This will help students to read and sing music at first sight
Dictation: Students will learn to notate melodies and harmonies upon hearing. This skill will empower students to be able to quickly grasp music that they encounter, as well be able to write or play their own musical ideas.
Requirements for the course: If you did a HWMF-notation-reading-course, a beginner-course in music, for eg. at Trinity, ABRSM, LCM etc., or have similar experience, this is the right course for you.
About Nathan King, The Teacher: Nathan studies music and anthropology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and teaches music theory and ear training at the Folk School of Chattanooga. He has performed many styles of music including jazz, funk, classical, rock 'n' roll, folk and experimental new music. Nathan's compositions have ranged from the traditional to the avant garde; including duets for clarinet and piano, guitar ensembles, as well as full jazz band arrangements and mixtures of different artistic mediums. Nathan is a singer and guitarist, though he also plays bass, clarinet, and tuba.
