Flipmind is screening 2 documentaries as part of the series "Man, Modernity And Mountains" on 21st January at the La Makaan.
"Mugu: The Conscience of Karnali" is the last documentary that will be screened at 7:30pm. It has been directed by Rituraj Sapkota, and is 18 minutes in duration.
"Mugu: The Conscience of Karnali", produced by Tourism Development Endeavours, Nepal, is the tale of the unbelievable hardships people in an unbelievably scenic place in the forlorn end of Nepal are forced to endure. It documents the struggle for subsistence, the hardships of practising agriculture in an arid landscape, the mad race for the income-generating hunt for aphrodisiacs and herbs, and a community's scope for cultural survival amidst a wave of intervention and globalization.
Flipmind was established in 2008 with the objective of using video and audio as media for documenting issues of humane significance and facilitating concrete change. While it frequently uses video as a medium to build corporate videos and advocacy films for NGOs, its commitment lies in bringing stories from little known places and of little known communities to a wider, sensitized audience.
Entry is free for everyone. Please contact Rommel at 80194-22427, or Arvind at 99665-69240 for further details.
