Contempt by Jean-Luc Godard (year 1963 / 97 min).
This is not a typical documentary but a fiction film, based on the novel by Alberto Moravia, this is the story of a young woman caught in a troubled marriage and the end of the relationship. Camille (Brigitte Bardot) is a sensual, amorous woman married to a scriptwriter. Paul (Michel Piccoli) is hired by an egotistical American producer, Jeremie (Jack Palance), to rewrite scenes for his film "Ulysees". A series of incidents details Camille's growing lack of respect and dislike for her husband. Paul's lack of manliness sends Camille into the arms of Jeremie, and the two lovers head for Rome. A car wreck en route kills them both. This is Brigitte Bardot's first real opportunity to show her acting abilities, and makes the most of them.
