Muse Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings titled "Mandala Conscious Beings" from 22nd January to 15th February at the Marriott Hotel. The main thought behind these works is the expansion of consciousness, and the mandala masks represent emotions and the real, hidden self. The artist, Mamtani, believes that we are all changing, but are not removing the masks off our faces.
Mahirwan Mamtani was born in the Indus Valley in 1935. After the partition of India in 1947, he migrated to Delhi. There, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1955. He also studied painting at the Delhi School of Art, New Delhi, and received the national diploma in 1962. He secured the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to study painting at the Academy of Art, Munich, under Prof. Franz Nagel in 1966.
Mamtani exhibited his works at the AIFACS Gallery, New Delhi in 1967; Galerie Stenzel, Munchen, in 1967; Ecke Galerie, Augsburg in 1967; Galerie Winfried Gurlitt, Zurich in 1967; Galerie La Fourmi're, Berlin in 1970; Modern Art Galerie, Grenchen in 1970; Galerie Toni Brechbuhl, Heilbronn in 1971; Galerie Rota, Munchen in 1972; Kunstverein, Wuppertal in 1972; Schauspielhaus, London in 1973; Commonwealth Institute Art Gallery, Munchen in 1974; Art Galerie Schwabylon, Wuppertal in 1974; Gallery Chanakya, New Delhi in 1975 & 1985; and other galleries across the globe.
