Manthan, a forum for public discourse, is organising a dialogue with Ven. Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche on the topic "Managing your Business & Life", on 19 December 2012, at Saptaparni, Road Number 8, Banjara Hills at 6:15pm.
Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche is a distinguished scholar, teacher and philosopher. In 1959, after the Chinese invasion of Tibet, he was forced to go into exile in India along with the Dalai Lama. He was the Director of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) at Varanasi from 1988 to 2001.
He was the Chairman of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile for over a decade, and is the first directly elected Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile (2001-11). In his capacity as Prime Minister, he travelled extensively to gain support for the cause of Tibetan autonomy, and raise awareness of the Dalai Lama's proposals for negotiating autonomy with the Chinese government.
He was appointed by the govt. of India as a member of the executive board of the Indian Council for Philosophical Research (ICPR), and is a member of the executive board of the Asiatic Society, Calcutta. He was also a counsellor at the World Peace University, USA, at the Institution for Asian Democracy in New York. He is a member of the executive board of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility, New Delhi.
Professor Samdhong Rinpoche is responsible for the entire publications at the Central Institute for Tibetan High Studies. He has published over sixty studies and interviews in different university publications and in the press.
He is also a trustee of Jiddu Krishnamurti Foundation of India. He is regarded as one of the leading Tibetan scholars of Buddhism. His perspective on life, spirituality, and the modern world can be found in the 2006 World Wisdom book "Samdhong Rinpoche's Uncompromising Truth For A Compromised World?.
Manthan is a forum to promote learning, debate and public discussion in all spheres of knowledge, and in matters of public concern. The goal is to encourage learning and public discourse on a variety of issues.
