Vaishali Bisht's Theatre Workshop is presenting Hyderabad's 1st Children's Theatre Festival, from 23rd to 25th November, at the Shilpakala Vedika auditorium.
Mahadevbhai, a play written and directed by Ramu Ramanathan, and performed by Jaimini Pathak, will be staged on the second day.
Mahadev Desai was the secretary to Gandhiji. The play is based on his daily diary, in which he recorded Gandhiji's letters, conversations, lectures and discourses. The form chosen is of lively storytelling, with humour, as one actor plays out various historical characters like Gandhiji, Mahadevbhai, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. B R Ambedkar, among others.
Vaishali Bisht Children Theatre came into existence in 2000. Vaishali is a degree holder in theatre arts from the University of Kent, England. She has conducted many children workshops till date, and has also directed, acted in and written many plays.
