REVIEW FOR LINES OF MAHATMA

After being a face on your green bills for decades, now Gandhi decides to make an appearance elsewhere.

The Documentary Circle section of the Hyderabad Film Club is showcasing the work of the Chennai based cinematographer and filmmaker, R V Ramani. The club has chosen to screen five of his shortfilms today at the Bhaskara Auditorium. The filmmaker will also be present at the screening. He will be introducing his movies, and after the film he will also answer questions from the audience.

R V Ramani is a graduate in Physics from the Bombay University. He initially worked as a photo-journalist and later joined the Film And TV Institute Of India, at Pune. He has been making his own independent documentaries and short films since the year 1989. His films have been presented at many international film festivals. His Retrospectives, a documentary, has been screened at the Dokument Art, The International Documentary Film Festival in 1999, The Asia Pacific Trinalle, the APT3 Australia in 2003, and Mumbai International Film Festival in 2002.

Ramani visits a painting exhibition of the eminent Chennai based artist, K M Adimoolam. The exhibition includes some old drawings of Mahatma Gandhi, done in the year 1960. Ramani suggests the artist that he should take up painting once again, as he hasn't painted anything for the past 3 decades. Adimoolam, again attempts to do the sketches of Gandhi. The film reflects upon the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi through the drawings of Adimoolam.

And, Be truthfull to your conciousness ... Than to the lakhs of people and lakhs of fools in the society...These are the words of Gandhiji.. Which Inspired me a lot.. Hope to some of you too..
