REVIEW FOR LEPAKSHI COTTON MELA 2010
The A P Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, in association with the Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium, is organising an exhibition of cotton fabrics. The expo is on from 23rd April to 22nd May, at the Lepakshi Gunfoundry showroom. Held every year during the summer, this annual weaver-to-consumer exhibition-cum-sale has weavers participating from all over the country.
This year, the exhibition has about 30 stalls exhibiting and selling cool cotton wear, including Baltic print sarees; Bengal cotton sarees; dress material; khadi shirts and ladies' tops; and kurtas and sarees from Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Gadwal, Siddipet, Narayanapet and Pochampalli in Andhra Pradesh, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, and Kolkata in West Bengal. The striped lungis from Andhra Pradesh and the printed lungis from Tamil Nadu sell like hot cakes.
