Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist, and a crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music. In spite of his loss of hearing, Beethoven remains one of the most famous and influential of all the composers. His hearing impairment did not prevent him from composing music. Three of the nine Beethoven's symphonies will be discussed by Mark Lindley during the course of his three lectures: 18th November - Symphony No. 5, 19th November - Symphony No. 3 and 20th November - Symphony No. 7.
