A very young and talented Kuchipudi artist performs for us at Shilparamam. Make sure you're there to cheer her on. 16 year old Ramya Teja Punjala will be performing at Shilparamam on this Sunday.
The dance items that we will be getting to see are Jayamu Jayamu Puja, Bala Gopala Tarangam, Bhaama Kalapam and Mahishasura Mardini. She has been learning the art of Kuchipudi Dance from the tender age of two and a half years.
Trained under the expertise of her mentor Balaji Kumar, Ramya gave her first ever performance at the age of three years. Her parents Sirisha and Sudeep Kumar Punjala (ex-MLA) are very proud of her and have been encouraging her ever since. The junior artiste studying in her 2nd year Intermediate is very fond of giving dance performances at Temples.
She insists that she has a long way to go before she starts accepting awards and refuses to accept any of them right now. Now that, is one hell of a modest artiste, something which a lot of us can learn from.
