Dr.Shobha Naidu's endeavours to expand the scope of Kuchipudi, will find expression tonight at a dance performance by her and her disciples at Tyagaraja Gana Sabha. Called Vagyaya Karaka Kirtana, this performance is set to ballads by the great saint-poets Mysore Vasudevachary, Tyagaraja, Annamacharya, Lalgudi Jayraman etc. 2 compositions of more recent times will also be performed to.
Dr. Naidu's students Saraswati, Purnami, Urvasi, Usha Kiran, Sarani and Pallavi shall be performing with her in these innovatively choreographed Kuchipudi dances. The Minister of Cultural Affairs will be present as chief-guest on the occasion.
