As part of the All India Crafts Mela from 13th December to 4th January, Shilparamam is presenting a solo Kuchipudi dance recital by B V N Soumya of Vijayawada, on the 12th day of the mela.
She will start the evening with Mahaganapathim, followed by an Ashtalakshmi Stuthi, Narayana Teertha's Tarangam - Krishnam Kalaya Sakhi, Shankaracharya's Mahishasura Mardhani, a Javali, a Tillana, Annamayya's Alarulu Kuriyaga and Mohini Daruvu.
Soumya is a senior disciple of Bhagavathula Venkata Sarma in Vijayawada, and has choreographed and performed in various dance ballets. Armed with an M A in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Soumya is the recipient of the Youth NRI Award, and had also been to the University of Virginia as a visiting professor of Kuchipudi, from May to July this year.
