Jyosthna Kala Peetham is hosting an event to felicitate yesteryear actress Geetanjali, on 24th July, at Thyagaraja Gana Sabha. The timings of the program are 6:30pm to 9pm.
The actress will be awarded the Jandhyala Smaaraka Swarna Pathakam. Geetanjali has worked in over 400 films in her career, amongst which are Devata, Potti Pleader, Dr. Chakravarthy, and most recently, Gopi Gopika Godavari. The award is a token of appreciation to the artiste, for her contribution to Telugu cinema. The evening will start with a Sangeeta Vibhari (a music program) by participants of Zee's Little Champs program, Revant and Krishna Chaitanya. The two will sing songs from the movies of the actress, and then, the awards ceremony will follow. The award will be given away by director Aditya, whose films include sBoss and Manasantha Nuvve.
Jyosthna Kala Peetham is essentially a culture and literary organization, mainly aiming to empower women in the literary field. The organization promotes budding women writers, poets and artists. The president of the organization is Ananda Ramam, a novelist, and the secretary is professor Sarath Jyosthna, also a writer. Jyosthna Kala Peetham hosts many events, including the Sugunamani Sahitya Puraskaram, every year.
