Here's another way for you to celebrate Independence Day. The Vande Mataram Youth Wing (VMYM) is celebrating the event at Keshav Memorial Educational Society, on 15th August, from 10:30am onwards.
Celebrations include competitions - essay-writing, elocution, quiz, singing & dancing (patriotic songs). Students from various Intermediate, Degree, PG and Engineering colleges are participating in the competitions.
Participants from 150 colleges in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, including New Era, the Narayana and Chaitanya groups, Pragathi Maha Vidyalaya Degree College, Aurora Degree College, Avanti Degree College, SVIT Engineering College and VBIT Engineering College, are part of the festivities.
The topic for the essay-writing contest is 'How To Revive Values In The Present-Day World,' and for the elocution competition, it is, 'Role Of The Youth In Shaping The Future Of The Country'. The quiz will be conducted on History, Current Affairs, and the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
After the competitions, there will be a speech by Dr. Hanuman Chowdary (former IT Advisor for the State Government and present IT Advisor to TCS) about the scientific heritage of India.
VMYM was established in 2006, and Sanjay Bharata is the Secretary. The asosciation conducts programs for students in colleges all over the city. This is their the 4th year of Independence Day celebrations.
