Icon Art Hallery is organising "In Transience", an art exhibition of charcoals, and paintings in pen & ink and watercolours, by S K Sarkar, from 26th June to 5th July. The display is on at the gallery premises on Road No. 1, Banjara Hills.
The paintings have been inspired from Sarkar's native surroundings, such as stalks of water lilies and lotuses, green paddy plants in the field, and ducks swimming in the pukur (pond).
Sarkar completed his BFA in painting from the Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Calcutta University, in 1991. He then did his MFA in Painting from the Hyderabad Central University, in 1993. He also completed the National Scholarship Project awarded by the HRD, Govt. of India, under eminent artist K Lakma Goud, during 1993-95.
He received several awards, including the ones from IFACS, New Delhi, in 1997; SCZCC, Nagpur, 1999; HAS, Hyderabad, 1999; and the Hyderabad Art Society (a gold medal), Hyderabad, in 2001. He also obtained a secluded Award by the Telugu University, Hyderabad, in 2001.
