Love plants? Get here. Grow plants? Get here. Eat plants? Get here. Here's a fest for farmers, gardeners, researchers, and the casually-ambling as well.
The Department of Horticulture (Government of Andhra Pradesh) is organising a 5-day Horticulture Expo, from 26th to 30th January, at the People's Plaza grounds on Necklace Road.
This is the 21st annual show being organised in succession, by the department, and is one of the largest showcases of horticultural wealth and transfer of technology in India. With an abundance of varieties of plants being showcased, it's a treat for plant-lovers.
This year, along with 40 nurseries, there are over 200 stalls exhibiting fruits, plantation crops, vegetables, tuber crops, flowers, spices, bee-keeping equipment, mushrooms and condiments, regular and exotic plants, saplings, agriculture technology, irrigation methods, and seeds and fertilizers.
Products are being sourced from all over India. The stalls from the Godavari districts are the centre of attraction every year for their varieties of flowering plants.
Green-houses and accessories, agri-export services, government and quasi-government organisations, pesticides, tissue culture, financial institutions, horticulture implements and machinery are also part of the exhibition.
About 20,000 farmers are likely to visit the expo, and the department is providing transportation from 22 districts of AP. The expo will provide a platform for new business contracts and sales opportunities, and for the exchange of ideas among farmers, researchers, processors, traders and others involved in the horticulture sector.
Entry is free. Please contact the Department Of Horticulture at 2323-4091 / 2324-0124 for further details.
