They make Shakespeare turn in his grave. And audiences delirious. And lots of money. Your dose of theater for this week is at Shilpakala Vedika.
Evam Theatre Group of Chennai is staging a renowned English play written by Shakespeare, Hamlet, at the Shilpa Kala Vedika, this Saturday. After entertaining the audiences of Chennai, the play has come to take over Hyderabad in a whirlpool of riotous humour.
Yes, Hamlet is actually a spoof of the Shakespearean play Hamlet. The play is directed by Michael Muthu and performed by Sunil Vishnu K, Karthik Kumar and Kartik Srinivasan. The three get into different roles, characters and costumes, and these weirdos have but not a clue of what is happening.
The original Hamlet is narrated by the three guys in the most democratic way possible amidst fighting and bickering, and the audiences have a whale of a time. With sets by Michael Muthu, this all-male cast enacts the whole of Hamlet in just about an hour, playing 8 characters between them including two women, Hamlet, Gertrude, Polonius, Ophelia and Laertes.
The entry to the play is by tickets of Rs. 500 for the front row, Rs. 300 for the back row and Rs. 200 for the balcony, per head, available at the venue. The play is being brought to you in Hyderabad by Orange House Event Consultancy. For further details, please contact Swaroopa at 98850-54191.
