Aircel is presenting Friends Forever, a live music concert by the young film singer Shreya Ghoshal, on 1st August, at Shilpakala Vedika.
She will be singing several of her hits, that include Vintunnavaa from Ye Maya Chesave, Sogasu Chooda Tharama from Sainikudu, Preminche Premava from Nuvvu Nenu Prema, Nuvvena from Anand, Teri Or from Singh Is Kinng, Ye Ishq Hai from Jab We Met, Bairi Piya" from Devdas, and Barso Re from Guru.
Just 26 years old and already a winner of 4 ?Best Playback Singer' National Awards and 4 Filmfare Awards, Shreya Ghoshal is a youth icon of sorts. One of film world's most popular singers, she has sung for nearly 150 films till date.
Shreya's career began when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest as an adult. Her Bollywood playback singing career began with Devdas, for which she received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent.
Shreya trained in Hindustani classical music in Kota with Maheshchandra Sharma. As a child, she won the children's special episode of the Sa Re Ga Ma (now Sa Re Ga Ma Pa) contest on Zee TV. Kalyanji, who also judged the competition, convinced her parents to move to Mumbai. She trained with Kalyanji for 18 months and continued her classical music training with Mukta Bhide in Mumbai.
Shreya caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for the second time, this time as an adult. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang 5 songs under the musical direction of Ismail Darbar in the film, and since then there was no looking back.
