Based on Soraya Nini's autobiography, this film is set in Marseilles, and chronicles a few weeks in the life of Samia, a teenager in a family of Algerian immigrants. Her parents are strict fundamentalists regarding girls' education, while Samia is a go-getter who has a revolutionary streak in her endeavor.
It's yet another film on Women's Lib, but this one does it bit in doing full justice to its theme. Watch out for Lynda Benahouda debuting as Samia, who personifies the spirit of independence and perseverence. The film is directed by Philippe Faucon.
