The best reports, stories on water conflicts in each State - published in the regional media - are being awarded prizes for excellence in reporting by the Forum For Policy Dialogue On Water In India. The Forum, as part of WWF International, has brought out a draft compendium of 70 cases of water conflicts in India, with specific focus on Peninsular India. This was discussed at a National level dialogue of high-level bureaucrats, policy analysts and media persons on the occasion of World Water Day on 22nd March 2005 at ICRISAT.
The awardees from AP are, Best Story: B. Koteswara Rao for "Ragulutunna Raywada", Second Best Story: T. Muralidhara Rao for "Paapagni Jalaala Kosam" and Third Best Story: D. Shankara Reddy, for "Purti Kaani Kaluva"
A three-judge panel, comprising of K. Vidyasagar Rao (Political Thinker, Retired Engineer), K. Balagopal (Human rights activist, advocate and columnist) and Amar Devulapalli (Chairman, Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh), selected three journalists for these awards.
