For a classical way to end the weekend on Sunday, head to Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha to witness the Venugana Rangapravesam of child prodigy V S V Sai Sumanth. The concert will begin at 6:30pm.
The evening will feature the flute rangapravesam (a debut concert) of V S V Sai Sumanth, the disciple of the flute virtuoso Jayaprada Ramamurthy. During the performance, he will render 10 Carnatic classical music compositions, including Maha Ganapathim, Raghuvamsha Sudha, Kondalalo Nelakonna and Rama Rama. He will be accompanied by Rajagopalacharya on the mridangam, Pawan Singh on the violin and G Srikanth on the kanjira.
The evening will be hosted by V Pavan Kumar, and will be inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by Indira (Prinicipal, Narayana Concept School), Manjula Ramaswamy (Director, Sri Rama Nataka Niketan) and V Nagamanee (National Teachers' Awardee).
Ch Trinadha Rao (AGM, Admin, SBI), K Venkata Krishna Murthy (Chairman & Managing Trustee of I-Serve), V Nageshwar Rao (Professor Of Law, OU) and Kala Venkata Dikshitulu (President, Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha) will be the guests of honors to bless the child prodigy.
V S V Sai Sumanth evinced an interest in music from a very young age, and took to the flute at the tender age of 7. He joined the Uttaraa Center for Performing Arts, Hyderabad, under the guidance of the renowned flute artiste Jayaprada Ramamurthy. Sumanth has been training in the art of playing Carnatic classical music on the Indian 8-holed bamboo flute, and is currently learning to use the long bamboo (base flute).
In the year 2007, Sumanth was awarded the CCRT Scholarship for Carnatic Flute, in the Instrumental Music category, from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Sumanth is the first student among boys from Uttaraa, to receive this scholarship.
