Peri Sriram Murthy needs no introduction. Today, his students are going to make up for that.
A group of students who studied violin under Peri Sriram Murthy are falicitating their guru today. Professor Murthy has been teaching violin at the Secunderabad Music College for several years now. He is a renowned A-grade violinist who has over 2 decades of experience in this field. He trained under his father-cum-guru Subba Rao, who is a renowned violinist himself.
Prof Murthy composed a number of ragas that are being taught at many music schools now. In 1992, he was chosen for the Raja Annamalai Chettiyar Award, a prestigious honor in the domain.
Today, his old students will present an ensemble of ragas - Thillana, Ragam "Varam", Swarajhari (a mix of 4 ragas), Latangi Ragam, Mahaganapati Ragam etc. - composed by their guru long back. They will then award him with Gajamala, Gandapinderam, Sanmanapatram and Saaluva, and also with a title called "Gurusiromani".
