Jewel-embroidered T-shirts, sarees that take about a year to weave and heavy ornamented draped garments - this Yatra sounds mind-boggling already.
Akshat Events is organising an event called "Fashion Yatra" on 30th August, at Taj Krishna. Fashion Yatra is an annual event, being organized and promoted by designer Kamini Saraf for the last 4 years.
Fashion Yatra is a charity event for 'Nanhi Kali', an organization promoting basic primary education for girls. The event promises to have something for everyone, and items that include sarees, suits, tunics, dresses, jewellery, kids wear, home furnishings, shoes, and designer artificial flowers, from national and international brands, will be found under one roof.
A number of weavers exhibiting their unique specialities - like Prisha from Mumbai with their Indo-Western kali cut kurtis, Inddivogue from Mumbai with their bridal, Indo-Western and ethnic wear kurtis, and heavy ornamented draped garments by Kavita Tulsian - will make it a major draw for shoppers.
The Yatra also aims to appeal to the high-end crowd, with its bright digital jewel prints and jewel-embroidered T-shirts.
Among the other attractions of the exhibition is Weaves Khemkhab - the oldest of Benarasi saree makers, who are famous for their intricate saree designs. Each unique saree design is said to take about a year to be created, and they were used as "Chadars" by the early Mughal rulers, known to be connoisseurs of craft and artistry.
Fashion Yatra is going to be a one-stop extravaganza for people with varied interests, with around 40-50 designers from all over the country presenting their fares.
The timings of the exhibition are 11am to 8pm, and the entry is free for everyone. Please contact Natasha Virdi at 88974-83271 or Reena Srinivas at 99591-22440 for further details.
