The Times Hyderabad Festival is back this year with 9 days of music and art. The festival will see some renowned musicians, dancers and singers, like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan on the inaugural day, Sonu Nigam on 1st April, and Vani Ganapathy, Ghulam Ali Khan and Ehsan Bharti Ghungroo Wale on 6th April. There are also a fashion show by Vinita Pittie and Neeta Lulla on 7th April, and renowned plays Dance Like A Man by Mahesh Dattani on 7th April and The Vagina Monologues by Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal on 8th April. In addition, there will be carnivals at Eat Street on 31st April and at Hyderabad Central on 7th & 8th April, and cooking classes at Taj Krishna, Novotel, ITC Kakatiya, Mainland China, Taj Banjara and Touch from 2nd to 6th April.
Today, the penultimate day, a fashion show by Vinita Pittie and Neeta Lulla is being staged at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). The show is choreographed by Prasad Bidapa. Seven ex-Miss Indias are expected to walk down the ramp, along with other renowned models.
Pittie is a Hyderabad-based self-taught fashion designer, born in Kolkata, who began to design clothes for women in 1988, after much encouragement from her husband Navneet. She was able to manifest her ideas into creative reality. Her penchant for exquisite color combinations and her flair for drawing, enabled her work to stand apart. She has worked for the "Femina Miss India" beauty pageant twice, besides other fashion shows in the early '90s.
Neeta Lulla is a graduate in Dressmaking Apparel Construction from P V Polytechnic, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai, passing out in 1985. She started her career assisting Jeanne Nowroji, who was India's leading choreographer in the 1980s. Neeta's first film designing costumes was Tamacha, staring Kimi Katkar and Bhanupriya. Since then, she has designed for over 300 films, and has a clientele that includes senior actors like Bindu and Zohra Sehgal to current heart-throbs like Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Esha Deol and Amrita Rao, with a total of more than 75 stars patronizing her creations.
