Alankritha Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings by Narasimha Murthy, from 9th to 23rd January, at the gallery premises at Kavuri Hills. About 30 of his recent works are on display at the exhibition. The paintings are based on the style of miniatures and traditional figurative drawings.
Narasimha Murthy's paintings are drawn on the theme of Vishnu's Dasaavataras. This is evident with the use of images of 'Krishna' who is considered as a symbol of eternal love. The depiction of the curved, voluminous body bending in an un-natural, yogic posture is suggestive to this argument, but his desire is also to transcend them into a divine one.
Narasimha Murthy has done his BFA in Painting from the MMK College Of Visual Art, Gulbarga in 2001. He had his solo show at the Ravindra Kala Niketan, Tumkur, and was part of various group shows - at the Chitra Art Gallery, Bangalore; Kargil Fund Exhibition, Tumkur; Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore; Graphic Print Exhibition, Tumkur; Shresta Art Resources, Bangalore; National Level Painting Exhibition, Lucknow; and Bangalore Habba Ventappa Art Gallary, Bangalore.
