Pete Lockett, British by birth, is is one of the most versatile multi percussionists currently in the world, having immersed himself in percussion and drums from every part of the globe. He can play Indian percussion such as tabla, mridangam, kanjira, ghatam, vocal percussion, dhol, Middle Eastern percussion: darabuka, req, bendir, frame-drums; Latin percussion: congas, bongos, timbales, berimbau; Irish Bodhran, Nigerian Udu, West African djembe, Japanese taiko, Western drumset, other percussion effects such as waterphones & spring drums and objects built and customised by himself. He has worked with, recorded with or toured with a wide range of artists such as, on the Indian side with Hariprasad Chaurasia, Vikku Vinayakram, Selva Ganesh, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahedevan etc, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC concert orchestra and with rock groups such as Bj?rk, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Bill Bruford, Jeff Beck, David Torn, The Verve, etc. He has been voted #1 Best Live Percussionist in the world by various websites. His Album, ?Taiko to Tabla? with Joji Hirota was included in top 55 rhythm albums of all time in Songlines magazine, August 2006. His book, Indian rhythms for the drum set was ?Book of 2008? in Dutch drum mag, Slagwerkraant. He has also worked extensively in the film industry arranging & recording percussion for Hollywood hits such as The Incredible Hulk 2, Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, City of Angels (Meg Ryan), The Bone Collector, (Denzel Washington), The Quiet American (Michael Caine), Moulin Rouge, (Nicole Kidman) and many more. He has TV and advertising credits which are too numerous to mention. He has also recorded in the Indian film industry with AR Rahman for the blockbuster, Sivaji, (Rajinikanth).
