Krishna turns up missing tonite - find out from Rama Devi how Satyabhama manages this one.
RamaDevi is presenting a program of Kuchipudi ballets, Bhamakalapam and Vollakalapam. Bhamakalapam depicts an argument between Krishna and Satyabhama about external beauty. Both contend that each is more beautiful than the other. Krishna leaves Satyabhama in anger while she seeks advice from Madhawi. Madhawi tries to get a reconciliation between the two, and finally she succeeds.
Vollakalapam is a very old story, rarely used in recent Kuchipudi performances. This is the story of a milkmaid giving a discourse on religion and shastras to a brahmin.
Rama Devi will play the role of Satyabhama in Bhamakalapam, and will be accompanied by Pratushya as Krishna and P Sheshubabu as Madhawi.
Vollakalapam will see her performing as Vollabhama, the milkmaid, and Bhagwatula Shravan performing as the brahmin.
