The Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the very old wildlife habitats in the state of Telangana. The areas were never treated on par with the any protective areas of the Country.
Due to interference of the Political will, with the persuasion of NGO's the Department took initiatives to get the original glory of the Reserve, process of declaration of Tiger Reserve, getting the people's confidence in Management, overcoming the difficulties, Management interventions in converting the Reserve to be on par with any other Protective areas of the Country.
Gubbala Rama Krishna Rao:
Gubbala Rama Krishna Rao did his Post Graduate Diploma in Wildlife Management from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. He joined as Forest Range Officer in the Forest Department in March 1980 and worked in various capacities across the State of Telangana (as Forest Range Officer, Lecturer in Andhra Pradesh School of Forestry, and was active in Urban Forestry).
Also, he worked as Divisional Forest Officer, Wildlife Management, Jannaram (Kawal Tiger Reserve) for nearly 3 years and played a vital role in declaration of 41st Tiger Reserve of the Country. He is also the key writer for the Tiger Conservation Plan of Kawal Tiger Reserve for next decade.
