Confluence, an evening of classical music, sitar jugalbandi and tabla tarang by ustads Basheer Ahmad Khan - disciple of ustads Vilayat Hussain Khan and Shahid Pervez - Irfan Khan and Shabbir Nisar - trained by ustad Shaik Dawood - will be held at the University of Hyderabad on November 28.
Ustad Basheer Ahmad Khan is a legendary sitar player based in Hyderabad. Basheer Khan has several disciples from across the globe and has given sitar performances across the nation.
Ustad Shabbir Nisar, born in Hyderabad, is the successor of his father, tabla legend ustad Shaik Dawood. He was awarded the National Scholarship by the Government of India at the age of 20, and at 25, he joined the Government College of Music and Dance, Hyderabad, and continues teaching till today. He has also been an A-grade artist associated with the Hyderabad AIR since the age of 25.
Ustad Shabbir Nisar has accompanied several eminent musicians of indian classical music including ustad Vilayat Khan, ustad Abdul Haleem Jaffer Khan, pandit Jasraj, ustad Munawar Ali Khan, ustad Sultan Khan, ustad Shahid Parvez, Malini Rajurkar, Laxmi Shankar, pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee, ustad Nishad Khan, lrshad Khan, A R Gautam, pandit Giriraj and pandit Uma Shankar Mishra. He foundeed 'Ustad Shaik Dawood Academy of Music' in the city, which is an ambitious project devoted to research, preservation and promotion of the rich tradition of tabla that he has inherited from his father ustad Shaikh Dawood.
